Analysis

Despite starting significantly faster due to the 72°F office temp, dropping to P8 and P7 earlier (based on temp milestones rather than time) allowed the roast to converge perfectly with the Attempt 1 profile by the 5-minute mark. Hit FC at 6:24, nearly identical to Attempt 1 (6:23), proving that temp-based adjustments successfully compensated for ambient differences. Went slightly longer in development (21.8% vs 20.0%) to see if the juiciness/sorghum notes would pop more with a touch more body.

Verdict

Temp-based adaptive control confirmed. Nearly identical FC timing despite warmer ambient.

Analysis

Hit FC at 6:23—7 seconds faster than the washed Veredas Vecinas, confirming the honey process takes heat more readily. Exactly 20.0% DTR at a 7:59 total time. The curve shows a very steady, declining RoR through the end of the roast. The P6 brake at 5:50 (180°C IBTS) perfectly anticipated the crack.

Verdict

Excellent translation of the previous recipe to a new bean.

Tasting Notes

Good balance, bright with nice body, no chemical off notes detected. 8/10. Pour over in Hario Switch — immersion × percolation.
